Online JAM Time (Jesus and Me) with Pastor Lisa is 6:30pm Wednesday.   Vespers for adults are Wednesdays at 7:30 pm on Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday School for all ages – 2nd and 4th Sundays at 9am

 

October 7 from Noon to 2pm – Trunk or Treat at Edco Park

We will again be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project and will have non food treats at the stations.

Blue Kangaroo free adult clothing shop

Missions & Outreach

A few of St. John’s mission monthly mission are the Blue Kangaroo Closet (free clothing for women and men),  Evans City Food Cupboard, Butler Food Distribution,

Our building is open for community use for non-profit groups like NAMI.

We are now collecting peanut butter, bleach and dawn dish soap for the Jubilee Kitchen in Pittsburgh.  Items may be brought to the church.

Look for our church booth September 23 and 24 at the Evans City Pumpkinfest.

October 21 we will be assembling a ramp for the Mission Barn.

In October we will also be providing a meal for the students at the Neighborhood Academy.

Music Program

St. John’s has an active music program, including a praise team, choir, bell choir, and musicians. We are always ready to welcome new people into our music program. We provide a diversity in kinds and styles of music during our worship.  We practice on Wednesday night.

5:30-6:30pm – Handbell Practice

6:30-7:15pm – Praise Team Practice

7:15-8:00pm – Choir Practice

Sunday morning – children’s chimes

The handbell choir will be ringing at “A Celebration of Peace: An Interfaith Peace Concert” on October 1 at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church, 5401 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh PA 15232.

Mental Health Awareness Month

WISE Ministry

St. John’s United Church of Christ has voted to be a WISE Church.  WISE stands for Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, Engaged in the Mental Health Community.  We are partnering with NAMI Butler to provide ministry to people with Mental Illness and their families.  Our first goal is to educate our church family so we can better accept and welcome all.

Candlelight Prayer Walk of Hope

on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 7:30 pm.

The walk begins at the flagpole located in the middle of downtown Evans City, PA.  We will make 3 stops and end at at the parking lot of Ritzer Hall.  At each stop we will have a prayer and song.  Candles will be available at the service for a $1.00 donation. Proceeds benefit NAMI Butler.

Garden Club

The Garden Club keeps the church exterior beautifully adorned! Our gardeners meet the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month from late Spring through the Fall.

Stella Neely Book Nook

Memorials from a community minded member of our church, Stella Neely have provided for a Little Free Library located at Edco Park.  Church members and the community keep it stocked with book.  We have one for children and one for adults.
